Clarkstown Heating & Air Conditioning Receives 2014 Carrier President’s Award

Since 1976, the Pastore family has been providing residential and light commercial HVAC services to Pearl River and the surrounding areas of Rockland, N.Y., Westchester, N.Y., South Orange County, N.Y., Bergen, N.J. and Passaic, N.J. The father and son team of Tom Pastore and T.J. Pastore are at the helm of Clarkstown Heating & Air Conditioning, providing full-service HVAC contracting that includes air conditioning, heating, boilers, generators and indoor air quality solutions. The company currently employs 20, and owns a fleet of 12 trucks.

As long as your quality control is good, you will keep that customer,” Pastore said, adding, “Don’t just expect that the customer is satisfied. You need to inspect that for yourself with either a survey for them to complete, or even a quick, random phone call to see how their experience was.”

Receiving the Carrier President’s Award holds a great deal of meaning for the owners and staff of Clarkstown Heating & Air. “It was just six short years ago, in 2008, when I felt that there was no light at the end of the tunnel for Clarkstown. When the new construction market became non-existent, our company, along with many others, went through some very hard times. Our sales staff was cut in half, and my father had pretty much given up at this point.”

For the Pastores, it was clear that the business needed to change and evolve to the current marketplace. That’s when Tom asked T.J. to spearhead this initiative. “For some reason, my father trusted me to do this – a 29 year-old with only two years in the HVAC business. I will never forget that he took this chance on me.” For this reason, winning the President’s Award is truly poignant to Pastore. “Being presented with this award is truly as sign that my team and I have made a complete 180-degree turn in the right direction. We’ve all worked hard to restore this company to its former glory. I hope that we have many more successful years to come.”

Pastore attributes some of his company’s success to their partnership with Carrier. “Being a Carrier FAD dealer is very important to our business.  It allows us to differentiate our company from our competition.
