Orangeburg is a hamlet and census-designated place, in the town of Orangetown in Rockland County, New York. It lies 19 miles north of New York City, north of Tappan, south of Blauvelt, east of Pearl River and west of Piermont. The population was 4,568 at the 2010 census.
Orangeburg was the site of Camp Shanks, the largest World War II Army embarkation camp, known as “Last Stop USA.” During World War II, over 1.3 million G.I.s were processed from Camp Shanks to Europe and North Africa. Italian and German prisoners of war were housed and repatriated at this expansive camp that encompassed most of the town. Before plastic pipes, Orangeburg pipe was manufactured here, once the standard alternative to metal pipes, especially for outdoor drainage purposes. After World War II, Orangeburg remained very rural until the late 1950s, when developers introduced modern suburban housing to young couples who saw it as an attractive alternative to city living. Today, Orangeburg is a flourishing suburb of New York City with real estate values contrasting its modest beginnings.
It is necessary for residents of Orangeburg to have cooling and heating systems installed in their homes. Daytime temperature highs during the months of December, January, and February range from the low to mid-30s. Also, snowfall is common. Heating systems like heat pumps are best suited to be installed in Orangeburg homes. When temperatures drop, efficient heating help residents stay warm and comfortable inside their homes.

However, the area is not immune to heat waves. Precipitation is common during the summer months as well. Cooling systems like central air conditioning units help Orangeburg residents stay cool and comfortable inside their homes. When properly installed by professional HVAC technicians, the aforementioned systems protect residents and their homes from potential damages caused by extreme temperatures.
